Tom Taylor

 

Tom has been a Rotarian since 2001.  He and his wife, Mindy, reside in the Baldwinsville area and have two grown sons.  Tom is the Chair of the New Generations Program, which is an exchange program for young professionals to other countries.  He also works with the Rotary Youth Exchange Program for this Rotary District.

 

Tom is an attorney who practices primarily in real estate and business transactions.  Tom also teaches Business Law at OCC and serves as the Chair of the Council for Upstate Medical University, the region's largest employer.  In his spare time, Tom enjoys the great outdoors and reading any literature on American History.

Mindy Taylor

 

Mindy Taylor is a teacher and mother. She has been doing community service for the past 27 years.  Joining Rotary pulls her passion for teaching, family, and community service together.  Mindy is the Outbound Chair for the Rotary Youth Exchange Program, which allows students to live in another country for a year to learn its language, culture, and customs. Mindy is a volunteer for such organizations as Honor Flight, American Cancer Society, Relay for Life and VBS to name a few.  Mindy also heads up and Chairs the Flags of Honor and Gratitude Project for Onondaga North Rotary.  Mindy and her husband Tom, who is also a Rotarian, have instilled the joy and love of Rotary in their children. Derrick, a recent college graduate, has gone out on the Youth Exchange Program and now mentors students.  He also works with Rotary in the Washington, DC Metro area; and Justin, who graduated from SUNY Fredonia, works on several Rotary and other community service projects. Mindy is President this year for the club and she is working on some creative ways to increase membership and she is keeping her club members safe by meeting on Zoom. The Taylor family quote is "Be the change you wish to see in the world" by Mahatma Gandhi.

Tara Renner has loved being a Rotarian since 1988. Rotary has provided her with friends, fellowship, fun, great international student interactions, an opportunity to live in Peru as leader of the Group Study Exchange, business contacts, personal growth, and numerous opportunities for ‘Service Above Self’.  Tara previously was a member of both the Auburn and Skaneateles Rotary Clubs. She has served in various capacities at the club level, such as President of both Auburn and Onondaga North, along with serving on 4 different District Committees over the years.  Tara formerly owned Adams Travel and is an Accountant. She loves animals,  photography, travel, her family, and volunteering. She’s already accomplished her desire to visit all 50 states and now hopes to finish visiting all of America’s National Parks. In addition to Rotary, Tara’s volunteered for Humane CNY, Honor Flight Syracuse, Big  Brothers/Big Sisters, the S.P.C.A., the United Way, and both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Tara is also the club treasurer. Her mottos are ‘Go for it’ and ‘I’ll have plenty of time to sleep when I die.’

Michael was introduced to Rotary through the District 7150 Youth Exchange Program.  He and his two brothers were exchange students, with himself spending one year in Germany and his brothers also enjoying life-changing experiences in Thailand and Belgium.

 

Michael has forayed his international youth exchange experience into a second year in Germany to teach English as well as his current career in international business.  Michael is a new member of the Onondaga North RC, having joined in 2015.  He is committed to caring for the community here in Central NY, as well doing his part to further the goals of Rotary International.

Sadly, we lost Gary in 2019. He was a 25 year rotation who was our Membership Chairman and our President for 2016-17. Throughout his rotary membership Gary has worked with the military and organizations that aid veterans and is a former "Civilian of the Year" at Fort Drum. He is an avid sports fan and an occasional golfer. He was a proud grandpa. His new granddaughter was the apple of his eye!

Shelly Thompson-Liedka

Shelly joined Rotary in January 2018. She is the Branch Manager of the Taft Road Branch of M&T Bank located at 5170 W Taft Road, North Syracuse, NY 13212 and has over 20 years experience in banking. She is a graduate of Le Moyne College with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in Communications and she also holds an Associate’s degree in Graphic and Interactive Media Design from Bryant and Stratton College. Shelly holds her FINRA Series 6 & 63 licenses and NYS Life, Accident and Health Insurance License.  She has served on several non-profit boards including PPCA – Person to Person: Citizen Advocacy and Zonta Club of Syracuse. Shelly enjoys golf, running, going to the beach, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Tom grew up in the town of Butler in Western, PA. He holds a B.A. in mathematics from St. Vincent's College in Latrobe, PA. He began his professional career in construction, living in Houston then moved to San Diego where he lived for six years.  Tom eventually moved to Syracuse to be closer to family, where he has been a professional in the construction industry for over 30 years. He has been a Rotarian since 2015. Tom is also an avid reader and likes to spend time golfing, cycling and playing racquetball.

Tom has been the Club's treasurer for the past three years, he is now taking the role of President for the 2019-2020 year.

Tony has been a Rotarian since 2014. He owns his own insurance agency, Anthony Flaso Allstate Insurance Agency. Tony has a beautiful wife and three children that keep him on his toes. Tony is very big into community service and tries to fit it in between his family life.
